Are you guys a business incubator?
The truth is, we're that and much more! We offer in-depth training and coaching; we're also working on business development in the Woodlawn community. We also have a co-working space available to the public. And, we've also opened a fantastic coffee shop in the neighborhood. Come check us out!
Who do you look for?
We look for people who are committed to success in business as well as promoting positive outcomes in the community. Are you willing to take risks? Do you have ambition, drive, and determination? Most importantly, do you have discipline, focus, and the passion to overcome obstacles and challenges? We look for true entrepreneurs with these qualities. It doesn't matter to us if you've tried at something and failed. We just want to know if you have the tenacity to keep going. Do you have what it takes? Click the apply now button on this page.
What types of businesses do you support?
We work with a wide range of businesses offering many different products and services. We're open to any business idea, from web design to clothing and apparel, to child care and lawn maintenance, and everything in between. We're more concerned with finding the right individual who possesses the qualities described above.
Do you work with startups?
Yes. We work with both those who are in the startup phase as well as businesses currently operating.
Do you provide access to capital?
Yes, but not we are not a direct lender, nor do we provide venture capital. Rather, we work directly with lenders and financial institutions to help strengthen your ability to access the capital you need. We've helped businesses obtain anywhere from $2500 to over $25,000 in required capital depending on the size and scope of the business.
Do you work with non-profits?
Often we encounter those who wish to start a non-profit. Since we operate as a non-profit, we understand the value that non-profits bring to the community. However, as an organization greatly concerned with lack of economic infrastructure in low-income communities, we choose mainly to focus our efforts on for-profit ventures. We believe that for-profit entrepreneurship is critical for alleviating poverty in struggling communities.
How long is the program?
The classes run weekly for 12 weeks. They are held twice a year in the spring and fall, and occasionally during the summer (check our events schedule for the latest). They are typically held in the evenings and/or weekends.
